Headfuck Permission Post

Given Ardyn's tendency towards messing with people and the fact that he wasn't even supposed to BE here today, I have no doubt that he's going to use what limited abilities he has at one point or another to try and headfuck someone: be you inmate or warden (no discrimination here!), he doesn't really care.

ETA: Anything he does with illusions is going to be HEAVILY discussed first. Characters might do things 'out of the blue' to fuck with people, but I personally find it's a lot more fun to make sure everyone's on board with a situation like that to create scenes that people all find interesting as opposed to just whole hog fucking with folks. HE might want to do that, I have no interest in it. RP is for fun times ^_^ The permissions form is half permission and half 'would you like to use Ardyn to create an interesting CR situation for you or help your character deal with a past issue using the illusions of characters Not On The Barge to aid in your character's growth". It's to help me figure out who's interested in this and who's not.

As mentioned in his app, he can draw on people's memories to manipulate the senses and make people see people etc, that they have once seen, complete with sound, smell, etc. If he disguises himself as your best friend, the only way you'd know he's not your best friend is his behavior or his speech patterns or wrong information, etc.

For the purpose of play (and because this helps promote RP instead of being weird and godmodey), I'm going to say that Ardyn has to LEARN about what he might draw on as opposed to being able to browse someone's memories like a window shopper and pluck 'one that is traumatic' from them at will. So he can't walk up to someone he's never heard of and doesn't know and appear like their best friend; he has to find out about who this person is and some about them before he could do such a thing and as noted in the app, he does have a time limit.

ETA: Just to clarify, he is NOT reading anyone's mind. He is reading their TIMELINE, their past. The ability is literally called 'a stitch in time' and uses memory as it's METHOD, like using old film to add characters into a movie when the actors are gone. And as mentioned above, he can't just browse and takes what he likes. He has to know exactly what he's looking for.

Some folks might think this is fun! Other folks might rather go through dental surgery. So here's the permission post for ths particular part of his abilities!

If you have NOT filled it out, I will take it as a firm 'DO NOT DO THE THING WITH MY CHARACTER' in all cases until I am told otherwise and, in that case, I may ask for you to fill it out to make sure that I have a record somewhere of your preferences (I have a memory of swiss cheese and I never want to meddle with people's play in an unwanted way). Feel free to ping in here with any questions, concerns, or to discuss plot where you might want to use his abilities for some reason.

Limits: Not a hard limit, but Orpheus would be crushed if you used his memory or appearance to hurt his inmate, Mary. Discuss first. Also lots of his past is vague, especially childhood and parents. I can probably come up with something though.

Also, he's able to sense demons and such, but he'd have to be literally reading Ardyn's mind and he tries not to do that on the Barge too much. Depending on how Ardyn's corruption manifests he might be able to sense general demon-ness somewhere in the vicinity but have no idea it comes from him? Would that be alright/ something that could happen?

ALSO do you want him to be able to create illusions in Ardyn's mind, reading his mind, or entering his mind scape? (Those are unlikely because he's not even Ardyn's Warden but I thought I'd ask.) More frequently he tries limited mind-wiping and freezing people in place temporarily. Are either of those alright? You can withdraw permission for anything at any time of course.

Ideas: Anything in his history will work. Or just implanting generic fake childhood memories. Fun fact: Orpheus has resistance to mind wipes and experience in seeing through illusions so this will likely take him completely by surprise.

HOKAY. So. Ardyn is NOT a demon. He's in the weird position of being literally filled with demonic corruption without actually BEING a demon. Best way I can put it is that he's the carrier for a disease without actually having it.

Given that, I think it'd make sense for Orpheus to sense demonic presence around him but not AS him, thus of course being Deeply Confusing.

And honestly, anything he does with illusions is going to be HEAVILY discussed first. Ideas: Hardison doesn't have a lot of dark secrets and his personal traumas are more upsetting than haunting. The only thing that comes to mind is Eliot related stuff, though impersonating someone else from the team would certainly work.

Limits: Nothing in his timeline is off limits. Ardyn might wanna fast forward through some of the weirder sex stuff, though.
Ideas: Within the last year Nadayki lost the only two people he ever really cared about, his thytrins (basically clan members about his own age he grew up with), Dysun and Almon. Both of them were tougher and generally cooler, but he was generally in charge--they only left home because he had to flee the planet. He has weird survivor's guilt and all kinds of issues. And more recently the slightly deranged gun runner he worked for spent a lot of time messing with him. Basically, there's a lot to mine here.

Ideas: He's got a lot of guilt centered on people he feels like he failed, his mother, Fred Dukes, Wanda to a degree. And Nux turning back up would definitely have an effect. He's got a lot of feelings he doesn't even know he's suppressing since Nux graduated.

Limits: Iris is pretty resilient. My own limits are only the triggers I mention in my own permissions post (addiction, suicide).
Ideas: as a time traveller, Iris' personal timeline is incredibly convoluted and scarred, full of hastily-improvised repairs and knots and dropped stitches. She can also perceive time fuckery and time energy herself and things should get super weird.

No worries at all! You couldn't know until I said ^_^ I'm mostly asking to be able to possibly steer conversations that way in the course and flow of RP. Planning + serendipity is always best for stuff like this.

Limits: Jean has a strong will and a ton of raw power, but this kind of subtle, insidious manipulation can absolutely work on her. He'd probably perceive how the Phoenix Force affects her timeline, though, and that could affect how his power works.

This kind of illusion bears some similarities with what Mastermind did to her, so if/when she realises what's happening she might completely flip her shit.
Ideas: Anyone in her memories is fair game! Especially people she's killed. :D Though if he tries to impersonate Scott it probably won't work, because of their psychic rapport.

Limits: Not so much a limit, but as someone with similar talents he may have a harder time of it with Clancy.
